Consolation Awards

As always ... there are consolation awards. Some folks actually try and win these things - perhaps YOU will find your entry wins one of these in "CROZZLE" - the next POTM!
==============================================
== BEST PROGRAM NAME fo Bob Ashenfelter for "sswordpu"
	Bob even went so far as to submit an early semi-functional entry
	so that he could "reserve" the name ... such initiative deserves
	reward ... surely you can figure out why this is a neat name for
	an entry to the crozzle contest!

==============================================
== BIGGEST EXECUTABLE IN THE WHOLE WORLD goes to the team of Frants and
	Pieterse for an 11 megabyte entry called "knuppel" received in
	the last week of the contest ... they managed to get it down
	to under 400K in time for the finals! Exactly what is a "knuppel"?
	Patrick and Seppo didn't share that with me ...

==============================================
== The "WHO NEEDS THREE MONTHS FOR THESE SILLY THINGS" AWARD to
	Ralph Meira for "mots" ... who only got the details on March 27,
	a scant few days before the deadline.

==============================================
== The "NEWEST MOST KEWL WEB LANGUAGE USED AWARD" to
	James Rothenberger for "CrozzApp" ... the POTM's first ever
	JAVA program. In fact, James gave up his C++ entry "Crozzilla"
	(which was faster and higher scoring) so that he could be the
	first JAVA entry ... for that, I award James a second award:
== The "MOST FANATICAL DEDICATION TO A KEWL WEB LANGUAGE AWARD"

==============================================
== The "TOO MUCH SPARE TIME AND NOT ENOUGH TALENT" award goes to
	Fred Hicinbothem for "crozzlectomy" ... with a futile attempt
	to compete with a Korn Shell entry. Hey - at least I beat
	those entries that only put in one or two words!

==============================================
== The "BANG FOR THE BUCK" award to Ag Primatic for "santacroz"
	All three puzzles solved with respectable scores in a TOTAL time
	of less than 13 seconds ... just imagine what he could have done
	if he had used the other 1787 seconds!

         santacroz   156   172   611   12.79    C  Ag Primatic

	honorable mention goes to Robert Rounthwaite and Greg Marston:

             Binky   189   201   596  180.13  GCC  Robert Rounthwaite
        nonplussed   168   175   532   71.44    C  Greg Marston

==============================================
== BEST ANSWERS TO THE STUPID QUESTIONS I ASK AT THE END OF THE INFO FORM:
	Alex Popiel ... at popiel@nag.cs.colorado.edu  ... for:

		Company?  Please.
		Location? Initial meetings in public places.
		Job? He was persecuted by Yahweh.
		Do for fun?  Sure.
		Innermost secret? Not here.
		POTM ideas?  Gibberish generators.

= The "CONTEST WITHIN A CONTEST AWARD" to Chad Hurwitz for Crozzodile
	Chad spent time getting an "interesting" length for his program:
	14141 characters, and trying to make the total time
	come out to be "interesting" (1111 secs.) Whether or not you think
	he succeeded, it's folks like Chad that make the rest of us
	feel good about the things WE spend our time on.
