Thanks to all who participated ... I hope everyone had some fun with
the POTM (even if you just watched from the sidelines!). As I warned
so many times, there were a lot of entries that did not finish within
the 10 minute time period on some of the problems - my apologies to
these folks (maybe I'll be able to get a faster machine over the summer).
As always, I'll be posting all the details on the web within a week
or so ... check the URLs at the end of this mail.
The following table contains everyone's final scores on the three
final test problems: "a2b", "graffiti", and "hand". To determine
the winner, I added the ratios from the three runs (although I did
not show the sum below, the table is ordered by this sum). The three
problems will be on the websites, but here's a quick summary:
a2b: a geographic map from Alaska (upper left) to Brazil (lower right)
graffiti: some scribbling including a winding "shortest" path
hand: an X-ray of somebody's hand
